NEW DELHI: Global changemaker and media innovator Priya Samant was honored with the Impact in Film Award at the Fifth Annual #empowHERaccess Global Prestige Awards, co-hosted by Women in Cloud and Kyndryl. The award recognizes individuals using the power of storytelling to spark dialogue and inspire systemic change.
Best known in media circles as India’s Daughter, Samant is a pioneering voice in the intersection of cinema, culture, and social transformation. She made history by introducing the “Impact Advisor” credit title to Indian cinema, setting a new precedent for how films can drive public consciousness and cultural evolution.
Samant’s body of work includes eight socially charged films that delve into themes of identity, resilience, and representation. Her storytelling has consistently amplified underrepresented voices and challenged conventional narratives across cultures and communities.
“This award is a reminder that impact begins with belief,” Samant said in her acceptance speech. “Through purposeful storytelling, we create ambassadors for change. When we lead with intention, we don’t just make films—we build movements.”
In addition to her contributions to cinema, Samant is a technologist and the CEO and Co-Founder of Abris Inc., an AI startup based in Massachusetts. Her work at the intersection of technology and social impact positions her as a powerful advocate for using innovation to build more inclusive societies.
The #empowHERaccess Awards highlight purpose-driven leaders who are creating equitable economic opportunities for women worldwide. Samant’s recognition affirms her growing global influence as a catalyst for change—through technology, storytelling, and entrepreneurship.
Women in Cloud, one of the event’s hosts, is a community-led economic development initiative focused on unlocking $1 billion in new economic access for women by 2030.
