PM Modi’s Historic Visit to Kaziranga to Promote Wildlife Conservation

PM Modi embarked on a jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history with his inaugural visit to Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to explore the renowned wildlife sanctuary. The primary objective of his visit was to bolster conservation endeavors and showcase the area’s abundant biodiversity.

Commencing his exploration with an elephant safari in the Mihimukh region of the Central Kohora Range within the park, PM Modi immersed himself in the natural splendor and diverse wildlife. Subsequently, he embarked on a jeep safari in the same locale, offering him an extended encounter with the verdant landscapes and myriad flora and fauna species.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on this wildlife expedition were park director Sonali Ghosh and other senior forest officials, who provided valuable insights into the park’s conservation initiatives and efforts to preserve biodiversity.

During his visit, PM Modi engaged with Van Durga, a dedicated team of female forest guards leading conservation efforts in the park. He commended their unwavering dedication and courage, recognizing their pivotal role in safeguarding Kaziranga’s national heritage.

In a social media message, PM Modi urged people to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, extolling the unparalleled beauty of its landscapes and the hospitality of Assam’s residents. He underscored Kaziranga’s significance as a sanctuary not only for rhinoceros but also for a diverse array of wildlife, including elephants and various other species.

As part of his visit, Prime Minister Modi interacted with the wildlife by feeding sugar cane to elephants Lakhimai, Pradyumna, and Phoolmai, emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts in preserving the region’s natural treasures.
