PM Modi trumps global leaders with 76% approval rating

PM Narendra Modi has an approval rating of 76 per cent

WASHINGTON DC: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again secured the position of the world’s “most popular” leader, boasting an impressive approval rating of 76 per cent.

According to a recent survey conducted by Morning Consult, a global decision intelligence company, PM Modi’s rating places him ahead of United States President Joe Biden, United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, France President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and others.

Since the inception of the Global Leadership Approval project in August 2019, PM Modi has consistently maintained an approval rating above 71 per cent. In 2022, his rating surpassed the 75 per cent mark, solidifying his position as a highly regarded global leader.

The survey, which assessed the ratings of 22 prominent world leaders, revealed that PM Modi’s approval ratings outshined those of other influential figures such as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany and others.

The survey indicated that only four out of the 22 major country leaders achieved an approval rating exceeding 50 per cent within their own nations.

The data collected for the latest approval ratings spanned June 14-23, 2023. The ratings were based on a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country, with the sample size varying according to the nation.

The data for global leaders is based on a seven-day moving average of all adults within a particular country, with a margin of error of up to +/-4 percentage points. In the United States, the average sample size reaches approximately 45,000 respondents, while in other countries, the range spans from around 500 to 5,000 participants.

All interviews are conducted online among nationally representative samples of adults. The surveys are weighted based on age, gender, region, and, in some countries, educational breakdowns using official government sources. In the United States, surveys are also weighted by race and ethnicity. Respondents complete the surveys in languages appropriate for their respective countries.
