New Delhi: The Delhi Legislative Assembly today witnessed the launch of “Pani Ki Kahani”, a book highlighting the importance of water conservation, authored by Sanjay Swami. The event was jointly organized by the Bureau of Legislative Studies and the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, who inaugurated the book, stressed that water scarcity is a pressing global challenge requiring collective action. “Water is not just a resource; it is the foundation of life. Indiscriminate usage has brought us to the brink of a crisis,” he said. He called the book a “wake-up call” and urged citizens to adopt water-saving practices like rainwater harvesting and reducing wastage.

Dr. Atul Kothari, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, linked water conservation to India’s cultural ethos, emphasizing the need to revive traditional respect for water. Shri Gopal Arya, National Convenor of Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi, advocated for turning conservation into a mass movement through awareness campaigns.

Author Sanjay Swami shared that the book blends scientific facts with simple language to encourage behavioral change. Attendees, including students, environmentalists, and policymakers, appreciated the book’s accessible approach to a critical issue.

The event underscored the need for public participation in addressing water scarcity, with speakers calling for immediate and sustained efforts from all sections of society.
