No Vax, No Salary, Says Punjab Government

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Wednesday evening issued an order that the government employees will not get their salary if they don’t give their vaccination certificate.

According to the new order, all government employees who are either fully vaccinated or have taken a single dose, must upload their certificates on the Punjab government’s job portal if they wish to get their salary.

The government order, however, does not mention what it intends to do with employees who are not vaccinated.

The vaccination certificates have to be uploaded on the Punjab government’s iHRMS website, short for Integrated Human Resource Management System. The software streamlines salary payment and retirement benefit withdrawals. The pay is credited automatically to the account of an employee’s designated bank account, preventing fraud in salary distribution.

Punjab’s health minister OP Soni has issued a strict directive to the concerned health officials asking them to ensure ‘fully vaccinated’ certificates for those entering Punjab from any other state or latest Covid-19 negative report of RTPCR.

During the meeting, health minister OP Soni, has shown his concern over the Omicron strain of coronavirus, known to be highly transmissible.

With an eye on the increasing number of cases pertaining to the new strain, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting on the coronavirus on Thursday, to take stock of the situation. India has recorded more than 200 cases of the virus’s Omicron strain.

Meanwhile, during the Vidhan Sabha session of Haryana, the health minister of the state said that only those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to travel on public transport, banks or railways.
