New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted two more individuals in connection with the 2022 Kerala case relating to the recruitment of youth into the armed wing of the banned CPI (Maoist) terrorist organisation.
The supplementary chargesheet has been filed before the NIA Special Court in Ernakulam against R. Ragavendran alias Raghavendra alias Gautham alias Murukesh alias Raghaveendran, and B.G. Krishnamurthy alias Vijay alias Babanna alias Baskar alias Kumara alias Gangadhara alias Gopal Rao. They have been charged under Sections 18, 18B, 20, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and Sections 120B, 121A, and 122 of the Indian Penal Code.
The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) case was registered suo motu by the NIA in February 2022. It pertains to the recruitment of cadres into the CPI (Maoist) and its armed wing, the PLGA. The case also involves the organisation of training camps to further the activities of the Maoist organisation and its frontal outfits, with the aim of destabilising the country.
B.G. Krishnamurthy, a Central Committee Member of the CPI (Maoist), allegedly imparted arms and ideological training to other accused individuals in the forests of the Western Ghats, equipping them to wage war against the nation, according to the NIA’s investigation. A native of Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka, he was inducted into the Kabani Dalam squad of the CPI (Maoist) to organise terrorist camps for training underground (UG) cadres of the banned outfit. R. Ragavendran of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, was also part of the terror camp, the NIA’s investigation further revealed.
