Moosewala Murder Case: Gangster Bishnoi Moves Court Fearing Police Encounter

NEW DELHI: Lawrence Bishnoi, the leader of the gang that claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer and Congressman Sidhu Moosewala, has approached a Delhi court in a bid to stop the Punjab Police from taking him with them fearing an “encounter”.

Bishnoi has been serving time in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in an organised crime case under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, or MCOCA.

In his petition to Delhi’s Patiala House Court, Bishnoi said he should not be handed over to the Punjab Police because he fears he would be killed in an “encounter”.

The development comes a day after Moosewala was killed in Punjab’s Mansa. Minutes after the killing of Moosewala in Punjab, a Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar took the responsibility. Brar took to his social media account to claim the responsibility, writing that “he and Bishnoi group was behind the murder”.

“Today, Moosewala was killed in Punjab, I, Sachin Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi take the responsibility. It’s our work. Moosewala’s name surfaced in our brother Vikramjit Singh Middukhera and Gurlal Brar’s murder, but the Punjab Police did not take any action against him. We also came to know that Moosewala was also involved in the encounter of our associate Ankit Bhadu. Moosewala was working against us. Delhi Police had taken his name but Moosewala used his political power and saved his skin each time,” Goldy wrote in his post on Facebook.

According to Delhi Police sources, a team of Special Cell is also questioning gangster Bishnoi and his aides Kala Jathedi and Kala Rana in connection with Moosewala’s murder since Goldy Brar aka Doctor is a member of the Bishnoi’s gang.

According to Delhi Police sources, Moosewala’s death plot might be linked to Delhi’s Tihar Jail. A police source said that a phone number has been traced to the jail, in connection to the murder.

“Only a few days ago, a criminal Shahrukh was arrested by police. He was using a messaging app to communicate with gangster Goldy Brar,” the source said.

Shahrukh was arrested by the Delhi Police in April this year. He was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head before his arrest and was wanted in 10 cases of murder, robbery and extortion.

As per the Delhi Police, he was the last surviving on-ground operations head in Delhi for the infamous alliance of jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi – Kala Jathedi – Sampat Nehra – Hashim Baba.
