LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has declared “love jihad” as an “agenda of undeclared terrorism against humanity”.

While interacting with reporters after watching the critically-acclaimed film ‘The Kerala Story’ alongside his Cabinet ministers, CM Yogi emphasized that the movie brings the nation’s attention to conspiracies like love jihad.

He stressed the importance of raising awareness about this distortion within society.

Following a special screening of the film at Lok Bhavan, the chief minister applauded its subject and presentation, extending his congratulations to the film’s producers, director, and the entire team.

He further highlighted that the Uttar Pradesh government upholds a zero-tolerance policy against any distortion that hampers social harmony, challenges national unity, and poses a threat to humanity.

“This commitment led to the enactment of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act 2021, and subsequent legal implementation in the state,” he said.

According to official data, Uttar Pradesh Police have registered at least 433 cases and arrested as many as 855 people since the law came into effect in 2020.

Among these cases, 1,229 individuals have been named as accused, and investigations have shed light on 242 individuals, resulting in action taken against 1,471 suspects.

Out of these, 855 arrests have been made. As of now, chargesheets have been filed in 339 cases, while 164 cases have seen confirmation of allegations by 184 victims before the court, as per the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Notably, 66 cases are related to minors.

The Uttar Pradesh government has waived all taxes on ‘The Kerala Story’ to encourage people to watch the movie, which tells the story of Fatima Ba, a converted Muslim woman who was abducted from her home and turned into an ISIS terrorist, landing in an Afghanistan jail.
