NEW DELHI: KL Rahul’s ‘Mera Ground Hai Ye’ moment stole the spotlight on Thursday night as he powered Delhi Capitals to a dominant six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The seasoned batter’s unbeaten 93-run knock wasn’t just a performance — it was a personal proclamation on a ground he once called home.
Chasing a modest 164-run target, Delhi Capitals found themselves in early trouble. But Rahul anchored the innings with a masterclass in patience and power. His 93 not out came off just 53 deliveries and included six towering sixes and seven elegant boundaries, showcasing a perfect blend of calculated risk and fearless striking.

As he sealed the win with a boundary, Rahul’s emotions took center stage. He theatrically dug his bat into the ground like a sword, pointed to his Delhi Capitals badge, and confidently exclaimed,
“Ye mera ground hai (This is my ground).”
Later, during the post-match presentation, he added:
“This is my ground, my home, know this ground better than anyone else.”

Rahul, who also kept wickets for Delhi in the first innings, said that 20 overs behind the stumps helped him read the pitch like a pro.
“It was a slightly tricky wicket but what helped me was being behind the stumps for 20 overs, watching how the wicket played. The ball sat in the wicket but it was consistent throughout, it was one-paced,” he said.
Sharing his thought process during the chase, he explained how his strategic shot selection was no coincidence.
“If I wanted to hit a big six, I knew what pockets to target, and keeping gave me a feeler for where other batters were dismissed and where they hit the sixes. Got lucky with the dropped catch,” he smiled.

When asked about his preparation, Rahul emphasized adaptability.
“Something I have always done with my preparation is that I always try to adapt to different wickets (even in practice). I experiment, get out a couple of times, but it gives me a fair idea of the areas I can target — where I can take singles, where I can hit sixes.”
He also added:
“I don’t keep batting for hours and hours and keep slogging. I do that sometimes but that is when I am not getting into a flow and rhythm. It’s more about mastering the pitch – and that should become second nature.”
With this win, Delhi Capitals remain unbeaten in the tournament and sit comfortably at the top of the points table. For KL Rahul, the night was more than just another innings — it was about owning the moment, the pitch, and the narrative.
