The meeting came fresh off the back of the India-England Test clash — a hard-fought five-day contest. As Head of the Commonwealth, King Charles’s gesture reaffirmed cricket’s unique role in fostering cultural ties. The king also met the Indian Women Cricket Team, who have won the series in England.

The royal engagement follows a fortnight of high-profile royal appearances at Wimbledon, underscoring the Crown’s enduring association with sport.

Chasing a tricky target of 193 runs, India’s innings teetered on the edge throughout Day 5. Resuming at 112 for 8, hopes rested on Ravindra Jadeja, who fought a lone battle with an unbeaten 61 off 181 deliveries. His resilience brought India within sight of a famous victory, but with the tailenders falling in quick succession, the visitors were bowled out for 170.
