Kashmiri Pandit organisations decry lack of progress in investigating crimes against their community

Advocacy groups denounce delay justice for Kashmiri pandits.

NEW DELHI: In a strong rebuke against the prolonged delay in addressing the Kashmiri Pandit Genocide, Youth4PanunKashmir and Roots in Kashmir have jointly expressed their condemnation of the perceived inertia in investigating these heinous crimes.

Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul’s recent statements admitting a bias in reconsidering cases involving crimes against Kashmiri Pandits have raised questions about the judiciary’s commitment to ensure justice.

Justice Kaul’s statement gained attention, especially since he was part of the bench that rejected Roots in Kashmir’s plea for an SIT to investigate crimes against Hindus in Kashmir.

It highlights a concerning pattern within the judiciary regarding genocidal crimes against minorities in Kashmir.

The explanation of the passage of time and challenges in evidence collection was deemed unacceptable, especially when dealing with crimes of such severity against humanity.

Youth4PanunKashmir and Roots in Kashmir remain resolute in rejecting perceived judicial indifference, urging immediate recognition of the Kashmiri Pandit Genocide.

The dismissal of chances for comprehensive investigations was seen as a setback for justice.

The organisations were urging the Government of India to institute robust legislation to prosecute and prevent genocides, ensuring accountability for past atrocities and securing a more just future.

In a joint effort, Youth4PanunKashmir and Roots in Kashmir urged the nation to address and correct historical injustices. It goes beyond the Kashmiri Pandit community; it concerns the integrity of our judicial system and the commitment to justice for all.
