Kalpana Soren’s emotional message to hubby Hemant: Partner of Jharkhandi warrior

RANCHI: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren penned a heartfelt message for her husband on their 18th wedding anniversary, just before meeting him at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office where he is being interrogated in connection with the Ranchi land scam case.

In her message shared on Hemant Soren’s social media handle, Kalpana expressed support for her husband amidst the tumultuous times. She lauded Hemant Soren’s commitment to defending Jharkhand’s identity, stating, “Hemant ji did not bow down because he wanted to protect Jharkhand’s identity. He preferred to fight this conspiracy and dedicated himself to this cause.”

Despite the significance of their wedding anniversary, Kalpana lamented Hemant’s absence from their family on this special day, expressing hope that he would soon overcome the challenges and return home. “Today is our 18th wedding anniversary, but Hemant ji is not with his family, with his children. We believe that he will defeat this conspiracy and be with us soon,” she wrote.

Emphasising her role as the spouse of a resilient leader, Kalpana pledged to remain steadfast in the face of adversity. “I am the life-partner of a brave Jharkhand warrior. I won’t be emotional today. Like Hemant ji, I will smile in difficult circumstances and become his strength,” she affirmed.

The 48-year-old leader, who served as the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has been remanded to five days of ED custody in connection with a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in land ownership.

On Monday, Soren, currently under arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam, addressed the State Assembly ahead of the trust vote for the Champai Soren-led government.

The Executive President of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was granted permission by a special court in Ranchi to participate in the trust vote, despite strong objections from the ED. Soren, in a defiant stance, remarked, “We have not yet accepted defeat. If they think they can succeed by putting me behind bars, this is Jharkhand where many people have laid down their lives.”

Speaking about his arrest, Soren characterised it as a “dark chapter in India’s democracy,” implying a potential political conspiracy. He further alleged the involvement of the Governor and Raj Bhavan in orchestrating his arrest.
