New Delhi: A journalist working with a leading English daily has been arrested by Delhi’s Special Cell for allegedly cheating a woman of ₹80 lakh, sources told The New Indian.

The accused, identified as Nitin Devidas Gadge (42), a resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra, was arrested under Sections 308(2), 318(4), 319(2), 204, 61(2), (3), and (5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The victim was duped under the pretext of an investment scheme. Reportedly brainwashed by the accused, she deposited her hard-earned money into his accounts before he blocked her contact number.

Gadge allegedly received a commission for each deposit. The Special Cell took him to multiple locations to trace the money trail and identify his accomplices.

His aide, Jitendra Sharma—also a Nagpur resident—has been arrested. Sharma, a delivery boy, is believed to have played a key role in the fraud.

The case was registered by Delhi Police’s Special Cell. During the investigation, Sharma and Gadge were identified as the prime suspects, leading to their arrest in Nagpur.

The probe is ongoing, with police verifying the involvement of other suspects.
