J&K: SPO, Brother Shot Dead By LeT Terrorists In Kashmir’s Budgam

SRINAGAR: A Special Police Officer (SPO) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and his brother were shot dead by terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday.

This is the third consecutive terror attack in the district this month and the second within a week.

The police said that the terrorists barged into the residence of SPO Ishfaq Ahmad Dar in Chadbugh village and opened fire, leaving him and his brother Umar Jaan severely injured. The two later succumbed to their injuries on way to a hospital.

“SPO Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umar Jaan (a student) were fired upon by terrorists at their residence in village Chadbugh area of Budgam. However, Ishfaq Ahmad succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom. Area cordoned off, search operation in progress,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

“We are tracking terrorist,” Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar informed The New Indian.

Kumar said that a massive cordon and search operation in the area was launched to track down the terrorists.

The incident took place four days after a civilian, Tajmul Mohi-ud-din Rather was shot dead by terrorists in Gotpora village of Budgam district in central Kashmir.

Earlier this month, Sameer Ahmad Malla, a soldier of the the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI), who went missing on March 7 from his village Lokipora village, was found dead in Khag area in the district.
