Jharkhand: West Singhbhum Scripting Saga Of Youth Empowerment

NEW DELHI: Jharkhand government’s skill development centres have trained 5504 youths in West Singhbhum, the district administration said, adding that 1834 have now been employed by different companies.

Currently, the district administration is operating four skill development centres under the State Sustainable Scheme and is planning to open three more centres within two months.

The government provides skill development training to people aged 18-35 years of age to make them self-reliant. Recently, the district administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Steel Foundation for operationalizing the Skill Training Institute.

Apart from training, the administration provides residential and non-residential facilities, food and accommodation for free to candidates.

“After the registration of a total of 7,323 youths, training has been imparted to 5,504 youths. 3,509 youths have been provided with certificates and employment opportunities have been extended to 1,834 youths,” said Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal.

Bharti Tirkey, a resident of Manoharpur, said that she had to leave studies after class 12 due to limited income of her farmer father. “After benefiting from Skill Training Program, I was selected by Coimbatore-based KPR Group in campus placement drive. Today, I am earning a salary of Rs 10,500 per month,” she said.

“If you are young, and you are seeking employment, then you can make your dream come true by joining the Skill Development Centre that is being operated in the district and give a new flight to your life,” said DC Mittal.
