Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren set to be replaced by wife, reveals BJP MP

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey asserted on Monday that Hemant Soren, the current Jharkhand Chief Minister, will step down soon, and his wife Kalpana is set to assume the position. This claim comes following the resignation of a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA from the Assembly, citing personal reasons.

Ahmed, whose resignation was promptly accepted, stated that his decision aimed to strengthen the party coalition and support the CM. However, insider sources suggest that Soren is concerned about a corruption case under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), raising fears of a potential arrest.

Dubey alleged that the new year might bring challenges for the Soren family. “Hemant Soren will also resign from the post of Chief Minister, and his wife, Kalpana Soren, will take over as the next CM,” he said.

The BJP emphasised the need for legal advice, asserting that the timing of the JMM leader’s resignation could impact the possibility of holding a bypoll.

Dubey insisted that JMM is more aligned with Shibu Soren than Hemant Soren, expressing hope that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will triumph in the vacant seat.

This development coincides with the ED issuing another summon to CM Soren in connection with a money laundering case. It marks the seventh time the agency has called him for questioning, prompting fresh concerns about the political landscape in Jharkhand.

He had previously approached the Supreme Court and Jharkhand High Court against the ED’s summons. Soren is slated to appear before the ED in the next seven days, while the political drama heightens ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
