J&K: Security Forces Foil Infiltration Bid; Kill 3 Terrorists

Three terrorists were killed after the Army foiled an infiltration attempt in the Poonch district of Jammu.

According to the Army, soldiers observed suspicious movement of some individuals along the Line of Control in the Poonch sector (J&K) at around 10 am.

The army said they were trying to infiltrate across the Line of Control, onto the Indian side.

When alert troops challenged the terrorists, they fired on the troops. In the ensuing gun battle, three terrorists have been killed. So far, the body of one terrorist has been retrieved, the Army said.

The operation is still on, and the search of the area is in progress, the Army added.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said they arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist associate in Pulwama.

Police said a joint force of Pulwama Police, Army 44 RR, 183 BN CRPF arrested one terrorist associate of the LeT outfit during a naka at Khamri Chowk in Pulwama.

The arrested terrorist has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar, a resident of Arigam in Pulwama. One hand grenade has been recovered from his possession, the police said.

The arrested person was working as an associate of the terrorist outfit LeT and was tasked with carrying out attacks on SFs and non-local labourers in the area, police said.
