IPL Auction 2024: Mitchell Starc breaks record, gets sold for Rs. 24.75 cr

NEW DELHI: Cricket enthusiasts around the globe are gearing up for the much-anticipated IPL 2024 auction, just moments away from kicking off. The first player, Rovman Powell has a base price of Rs 1 crore, his price has zoomed past the Rs 6 crore mark!

This year’s auction has seen record-breaking bids, with initially Patrick Cummins who was bought by the  Sunrisers Hyderabad, engaging in a fierce bidding war with RCB, for 20.50 crore. This broke the previous record of Sam Curran, who was sold to the Punjab Kings for Rs 18.50 crore. 

However, the record only lasted for less than an hour before it was broken again by Mitchell Starc who was sold to KKR for a shocking 24.75 cr.

With a staggering Rs 262 crore at their disposal, the 10 franchises are set to engage in a bidding war for a total of 77 players selected from a pool of 332 cricketing talents. The auction promises a spectacle with renowned names like Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Shardul Thakur generating significant buzz.

Mitchell Starc Eyes Record-Breaking Bid

All eyes are on Mitchell Starc, with speculations rife that the Australian pace sensation could shatter the existing record for the highest bid in IPL history, currently standing at Rs 18.50 crore. Starc’s exceptional bowling prowess has positioned him as a hot favourite, and franchises are expected to go the extra mile to secure his services for the upcoming season.
