India has lost access to 26 out of 65 patrolling points in eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) due to Chinese aggression, Congress said on Friday, citing a report presented during a recent meeting of DGPs and IGPs which was attended by PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said, “The clean chit given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to China on May 20, 2020, was exposed during the DGPs and IGPs meeting attended by national security advisor Ajit Doval.”
The Opposition party demanded the Central government break silence on the issue.
“The research paper which was presented (during the meeting) highlighted that we have lost 26 out of 65 patrolling points in eastern Ladakh near LAC,” Khera said, adding that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has installed cameras.
They keep a tab on the movement of our troops, he claimed.
The Congress leader alleged that the shepherds from the local Rebo community were being stopped from taking their animals to grazing grounds in these areas. “This is the relationship of Modi with China. And this is why we want a discussion on China and raise the issue of national security,” he said.
Accusing the government of trying to browbeat the Opposition dealing with China, Khera asked, “Will the government allow debate and discussion in Parliament on China issue to pressurise it?”
His remarks came after reports quoting a document submitted at the annual Director General of Police (DGP) Conference held on January 20 and January 22 noted that the Indian security forces have stopped patrolling in 26 points “due to restrictive or no patrolling by the ISFs.”
It leads to a shift in the border under the control of our security forces towards the Indian side and a buffer zone is created in all such pockets, which ultimately leads to loss of control over these areas by India, the Congress leader pointed out.
