LUCKNOW: Upping the ante against the BJP government, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying if he was really sympathetic to the farmers then he must not share the dais with Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishr Teni at the DGP’s conference here and also drop him from his cabinet.

Priyanka Gandhi, who is also the in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Congress interacting with media here shared the letter she wrote to the Prime Minister.

Talking about the Lakhimpur Kheri incident of October 3, in which four farmers, one journalist and three BJP workers were killed, she stressed that justice to victims cannot be served unless Teni is removed from his post.

“Prime Minister Modi should not attend the DGP and IG conference in Lucknow. I have written to him on the same.”

“If he is genuinely concerned about farmers, he should not share the dais with MoS Home Mishra whose son is an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri case,” she said.

The Congress leader said:

I have written to the Prime Minister that the person who mowed down farmers (in Lakhimpur) is the son of MoS Home, and due to political pressure, UP government had tried suppressing justice

She pointed out that the family of farmers wants justice. “And if he (MoS) continues, justice can’t be served,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi also said that she has also urged the Prime Minister to withdraw cases against farmers across the country and give compensation to the kin of deceased farmers.

The Prime Minister reached Lucknow on Friday night after visiting Mahoba and Jhansi.

On Friday morning, Modi has announced to repeal the three farm laws in the coming session of Parliament. While several farmer groups rejoiced the decision, Opposition parties termed it an election gimmick ahead of UP state polls.
