NEW DELHI: In an exclusive interview with The New Indian’s Executive Editor Rohan Dua, Aamir Khan shared that he once turned completely vegan — but gave it up after a few months because of one food he simply couldn’t resist: curd.
“I like veg a lot. I prefer veg,” Aamir said, describing his general food habits. “But there was a period when I was totally vegan. For about six months.”
The shift happened around the time of Dangal, though Aamir didn’t specify the exact timeline. “Which year was it? Dangal,” he recalled. “But I love curd. And when you are vegan, you can’t have milk or curd.”
That, he admitted, became a turning point. “I could not resist. I broke. Curd is important for me.”
When asked about whether he consumes meat, Aamir said, “I take non-veg. But I prefer veg.”
His short-lived vegan phase reflected his willingness to explore new dietary paths — but it was ultimately his comfort with vegetarian food, and his fondness for curd, that brought him back.
The actor didn’t elaborate on whether the decision was based on health, ethics, or environmental reasons, but he made it clear that his return to curd wasn’t accidental — it was deliberate. As he put it in simple terms: “Curd is important for me.”
While many public figures adopt dietary trends for image or fitness goals, Aamir’s candid admission shows that personal satisfaction remains key in his choices. He continues to prefer vegetarian food overall but doesn’t completely avoid non-vegetarian meals.
By staying grounded in personal comfort over strict discipline, Aamir’s food habits reflect the same thoughtful balance he often displays in his personal and professional life — one where simplicity and self-awareness take priority.
