WATCH | Hindu man framed by Bengal government?

The recent communal violence in Howrah’s Shibpur left one person dead and several injured, and pushed many others in distress including the family of 18-year-old Sumit Shaw who has been arrested for instigating clashes.

Sumit was arrested from Munger in Bihar after a video showing him allegedly holding a pistol during a procession on the occasion of Ram Navami went viral on social media platforms.

Several photos of him posing with senior BJP leaders are also circulating online with many claiming that he was a worker of the main Opposition in West Bengal. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee and other TMC leaders have blamed BJP for orchestrating the violence.

His mother, however, has now claimed that the young man has been caught in the crosshairs and that he has never been a member of any political party.
