SRINAGAR/NEW DELHI: Geelani Force, a lesser-known launched terror outfit, has claimed responsibility for killing two non-Muslim government teachers in Srinagar yesterday.
The unrecognized outfit claims to be following the footsteps of late Syed Ali Shah Geelani, former separatist leader and Hurriyat Conference Chairman.
In a media release, the little-known terrorist organsiation claimed it’s newest member Ikrama Bahie carried out the attack on school teachers and attained their “first victory.”
The group says it is fighting for the freedom of Kashmir unlike People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) The Resistance Front (TRF) who want it to become the “slaves of Pakistan”.
The police, however, has not officially commented on who is behind the attack.

Who Is The Successor Of Syed Ali Shah Geelani?
- The Hurriyat Conference appointed incarcerated separatist leader Masarat Alam Bhat as its chairman following the death of Syed Ali Geelani on September 1.
- 51-year-old Masarat Alam who toes the line of Pakistan has been lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail since 2015.
- Masarat Alam Bhat got into terrorism in the early 1990s and later projected himself as a separatist by joining hands with Geelani.
- He played a key role in organising stone-pelting incidentsand he has been under continuous detention under the PSA since 2010.
- Masarat Alam was released after more than four-and-a-half years in 2015 by the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed government. His release led to a massive furore following which the NDA government at the Centre arrested him under the Public Safety Act (PSA). He has been lodged in the Tihar Jail since then.
In the past 4 days, several civilians, most of whom being non-Muslims, have been gunned down by terrorists prompting the Modi government to hold a high-level meeting with security agency chiefs on Thursday.
Prior to the cowardly killings, a Bargheshekha Bhagwati Mata temple in Anantnag was desecrated last week by unknown vandals. The violence didn’t stop there and rose after a popular Kashmiri Pandit by the name of Makhan Lal Bindroo who ran a pharmacy since several decades was shot dead in the heart of Srinagar on Tuesday.
Later, two teachers who were shot and killed yesterday and were identified as Sukhwinder Kaur and Deepak who taught at a government school in Srinagar.
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, said on Thursday that the administration takes responsibility for being unable to prevent the recent terror attacks in Kashmir.
There has been an upsurge in terror activity in Kashmir and reports link it to the highly influential nature of the Taliban that has taken over Afghanistan after American troops evacuated the region in August.
