Four BKI Terrorists Arrested; Explosives Recovered

KARNAL/ NEW DELHI: In a major breakthrough Haryana Police appears to have succeeded in thwarting nefarious designs of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) by apprehending four members of a dreaded terrorist organisation in Karnal.

The arrests were made during a joint interstate operation carried out by the Intelligence Bureau with Telangana, Punjab and Haryana Police. Security agencies suspect that the terrorists were planning a big strike in the country as they also recovered a large cache of arms including bullets, a .30 calibre pistol, RDX and three IEDs.

Meanwhile, a team of Punjab police has also reached Karnal to question the four members of the dreaded Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) outfit who were arrested by Karnal police today.

The terrorists were on their way to Nanded Sahib in Maharashtra from Ferozepur when the agencies arrested them near Bastara toll plaza in Karnal. They were travelling in a Toyota Innova with sacks filled with arms and ammunition.

Among those arrested is a local gangster Gurpreet Singh. It also came to light that the arrested terrorists are believed to be closely associated with Pakistan based BKI operative Harvinder Singh ‘Rinda’.

During the preliminary investigation, it is learnt that the terrorists received the arms and ammunition across the border via drones. It is also learnt that they were distributing arms and ammunition at the behest of Rinda, who is working closely with ISI.

Incidentally, these arrests were made on the heels of the security agencies catching up with Charanjit Singh, a most wanted terrorist and an active member of BKI, last month. He was arrested by the Punjab police near the Gurudawara Sahib at Lali Village in Dera Bassi.
