New Delhi: In a move that underscores his aggressive push into the AI hardware race, Elon Musk has reportedly asked for a personal office inside Samsung’s semiconductor fabrication site in Texas, according to tech analyst Nic Cruz Patane.
In his post, Patane wrote that Musk wants a dedicated workspace inside the Samsung fab itself, signalling an unprecedented level of hands-on involvement in chip production. The facility is one of Samsung’s largest U.S. semiconductor manufacturing sites and a key hub for advanced chipmaking.

Patane added that Musk has said he will “personally walk the factory line to accelerate progress,” reflecting his long-standing practice of embedding himself directly into operations during critical production phases.
The move aligns with Musk’s recent efforts to scale up the fabrication of high-performance AI chips essential for Tesla’s autonomous driving systems, xAI’s model training, and other AI-driven ventures. Patane noted Musk is now “all-in on AI chips.”
If the request is approved, industry experts say Musk would become one of the few CEOs globally to be physically stationed inside a semiconductor plant—a sign of both the urgency and intensity of the current AI chip race dominated by Nvidia, TSMC, Samsung, and emerging in-house challengers.
Samsung and Musk have not issued an official statement on the report.
