NEW DELHI: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel revealed details about the recent ED raid at his residence on X

On Wednesday, March 11, Baghel took to X and wrote, “ED has left the house.” He claimed the ED officials found three things during the search.

“They found a pen drive containing conversation about transactions of crores between Manturam and Dr. Puneet Gupta (Dr. Raman Singh’s son-in-law),” Baghel said.

“They also found papers of the SAIL company of Dr. Raman Singh’s son, Abhishek Singh,” he added.

“The total of farming, dairy, Stridhan, and ‘cash in hand’ in the entire joint family is about Rs 33 lakh, the account of which will be given to them,” Baghel stated.

He also claimed that the ED had not provided any ECIR number during the raid.

Baghel mentioned that he lives with his wife, three daughters, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.

Baghel defended the amount recovered, calling it reasonable considering his income sources. “I have 140 acres of land,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the ED has summoned Chaitanya Baghel, Bhupesh Baghel’s son, on March 15.

The summons is part of an investigation into alleged money laundering linked to a liquor scam.

The ED has accused Chaitanya Baghel of being a “recipient” of the proceeds of the alleged crime.

The liquor scam allegedly involves Rs 2,161 crore siphoned off through multiple schemes.

The ED raid on Bhupesh Baghel’s residence lasted eight hours.

The agency, accompanied by a CRPF team, searched 14 locations in Durg district.

They seized electronic gadgets, documents, and about Rs 30 lakh during the operation.

Bhupesh Baghel condemned the raid, calling it a “political vendetta.” He accused the BJP-led Centre of misusing agencies to harass the Opposition.

“They came to my house at 7:30 am while I was drinking tea,” Baghel said.
