Dalit Boy’s Death: AAP, Bheem Army Vent Ire At Congress

The anger over the death of a nine-year-old Dalit student in Rajasthan’s Jalore after he was thrashed by a teacher for drinking water from a pot spilled onto the streets on Thursday.

Hundreds of protesters from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bheem Army staged protests against the boy’s death and atrocities on Dalits in Rajasthan, at Congress headquarters in central Delhi.

Following the Dalit student’s death, the Congress-run Rajasthan government has been facing flak from different quarters. The members of AAP’s SC/ ST wing leader arrived at 24 Akbar Road — Congress Headquarters – around 11.30 am. Since the Delhi Police had made arrangements and barricaded the office from both sides, all protesters were detained and taken to a nearby police station.

Police said Section 144 (prohibitory orders) is imposed in New Delhi district; therefore, no gathering was allowed.

A few minutes later, around 50 men from Bheem Army also came there. They carried flags of their party. The policemen deployed at the spot stopped the protesters as they were trying to march towards the Congress office. The protesters demanded strict action against the culprits. They also demanded that the atrocities on Dalits should be stopped at the earliest.
