New Delhi: In a significant legal blow to former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Rouse Avenue Court has taken cognizance of the final chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the high-profile Land-for-Job scam case.

 

The court has issued summons to Lalu Prasad Yadav, his daughter Hema Yadav, and son Tej Pratap Yadav, along with other accused, directing them to appear on March 11.

 

Summons Issued to All Accused

 

The CBI had earlier filed a conclusive chargesheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav and 78 others, alleging their involvement in corrupt practices during his tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.

Following a detailed examination, the court has now summoned all accused for further proceedings.

 

Allegations Against Lalu Prasad Yadav

 

 

The CBI investigation has uncovered serious allegations against Lalu Prasad Yadav, claiming that during his time as Railway Minister, he orchestrated a job-for-land scheme where:

 

  • Jobs in railway zones such as Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur were allegedly awarded in exchange for land transfers.
  • Properties were acquired in the names of his family members in return for recruitments in Indian Railways.

 

The case, which has been under investigation for several years, has now reached a crucial juncture with the court initiating legal proceedings against the accused.

 

This development adds to the legal challenges faced by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has previously been convicted in multiple corruption cases, including the infamous fodder scam.
