CM Dhami Pays Homage To ‘Meghdoot’ Martyr

Uttarakhand Chief minister Puskar Singh Dhami, along with the residents of Haldwani, paid an emotional homage to Operation Meghdoot martyr Lance Naik Chandrashekhar Harbola on Wednesday.

“I pay my humble tribute to the son of Maa Bharti. We are there for the families of our martyrs to support them in every way possible,” CM Dhami said.

Operation Meghdoot was the codename for the Indian Army operation to seize control of the Siachen Glacier in 1984. The remains of Lance Naik Harbola, who went missing during the operation and whose remains remained elusive for 38 years, were found recently.

Patriotic slogans were raised in a high pitch as the mortal remains of the martyr arrived at his Saraswati Vihar home in Haldwani, in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand.

Cries like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Jab Tak Sooraj Chand Rahega, Harbola Tera Naam Rahega’ and ‘Indian Army Zindabad’ pierced the skies as people gathered to pay tribute to the slain hero.

The bereaved family members burst into tears, letting the emotions of almost four decades flow as the body reached the home.
