New Delhi: In a major operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered 22 cases against builders in the National Capital Region (NCR) and officials of financial institutions for allegedly cheating thousands of homebuyers. The action follows a Supreme Court directive after an investigation into fraudulent “Subvention Schemes” in home loans.
The CBI conducted searches at 47 locations across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, seizing incriminating documents and digital evidence. The probe was initiated after homebuyers, cheated by builders and facing pressure from financial institutions, approached the Supreme Court. The court had earlier ordered seven preliminary enquiries, six of which were completed within three months, leading to the registration of these cases.
Investigations into the alleged builder-financial institution nexus are ongoing.
