BJP MP Anurag Sharma Will Represent India In CPA

Anurag Sharma, Member of Parliament from Jhansi-Lalitpur, will represent the country in the 35-member committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association at the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference that is being held in Halifax, Canada from August 20 to 26, 2022.

Sharma has also been included in the internationally constituted 35-member committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Apart from Sharma, the only MP from India on the committee, Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan and Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary are the other representatives from the country on the committee.

Meanwhile, at the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, the role of Parliament in the fields of sustainable development, use of new technology, issues related to women, youth, climate change, etc. will be discussed.

Founded in 1911, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is one of the oldest organisations. This annual conference is divided among the nine geographical regions of the Commonwealth.

Around 18,000 elected representatives, including 180 parliamentarians, Speakers of Legislative Assembly constituencies and elected representatives from 55 countries, are expected to take part in the conference.

A 100-member Indian delegation is being led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. In addition to the selected MPs, the Speakers of the Legislative Assemblies of various states will also participate in the conference.

This conference will enable the community of regions to build strong, powerful, and effective parliamentary institutions that are capable of responding to and adapting to the challenges of yesterday and today.

Sharma has taken the lead in disseminating the goals and agenda of the association not only in the diverse CPA India region but also in transforming and translating the dreams, aspirations and upward mobility in life for the provincial parliaments in the CPA India region also playing an important role.
