In what appears to be a twisted tale involving a femme fatale in the town of Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, Sonali Datare, the estranged wife of a Bhopal cop has been caught extorting money and filing false cases against businessmen and police officials.

Datare allegedly has had a history of filing fake cases against influential men. Her latest victim is a 46-year-old contractor from Sehore against whom she hatched a blackmail plot after allegedly recording a sexually explicit video of him with her friend Aarti Thakur.

Mukesh Verma alleges that Datare demanded 1 crore rupees from him as ransom.

Verma met Datare through a common friend, Aarti Thakur. He alleged that Datare called her to a hotel in New Market, Bhopal on the pretext of a birthday party, got him drunk, recorded a sexually explicit video of him, got him beaten up by masked unknown assailants and then demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom. She threatened to file a rape case against Verma.

Under pressure, Verma transferred Rs 1, 90, 000 into her account through phone pay in three parts.

Datare left with the three accomplices in a Scorpio leaving an injured Verma in the hotel.

Verma called the police after the incident, and he was admitted to the civil hospital in Bairagarh.

On November 17, Thursday morning Datare again called Mukesh and demanded money.

Verma’s complaint brought to light that Datare has had a history of filing fake cases against influential men.

Khajuri Road police station in-charge Sandhya Mishra said that on the complaint of Mukesh, a case has been registered against the two including, Sonali Datare and Aarti Thakur and one unknown assailant.

Datare’s husband, against whom also she had filed a fake case had accused her of having a close relationship with the then ADG Rajendra Mishra, Parasram Dabar.

Her police officer husband had to leave Bhopal due to her complaints and got suspended. Later departmental level inquiry was done. The allegations were found to be baseless. Khajuri police station in-charge Sandhya Mishra told that Sonali’s friend Aarti Thakur also lives separately from her husband.

Police is. now investigating the fake cases she might have filed against other individuals in past.

Reportedly Sonali had lodged a false complaint of kidnapping against three people in Jahangirabad police station. In the investigation of the then SP Anshuman Singh had found it to be a fake case.

Datare lives alone in her Betwa apartment. She is known to have association with many senior police officers. She was married to a police officer. But due to her antics, the husband started living separately on the court’s decision. By becoming close to the senior officers of the police department, she got many cases registered against her husband. The husband was even dismissed once. He had to leave Bhopal.
