Bengali actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay ties the knot with rumoured girlfriend

NEW DELHI : In a quiet and heartfelt ceremony at his South Kolkata residence, renowned actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay, best known for his contributions to Bengali television and cinema, exchanged vows with his longtime companion, Piya Chakraborty. The union, sealed through a registry marriage, unfolded in an intimate setting with the presence of close friends and family.

According to a report by ETimes, the ceremony witnessed the attendance of Parambrata’s close friend and producer-director Aritra Sen. Piya’s confidante, Ratnaboli Roy, also graced the occasion, showering the couple with blessings. Dressed in traditional attire, the newlyweds partook in a traditional Bengali meal to celebrate their nuptials. The joyous couple is further planning to host a celebratory gathering for their industry peers and friends.

The report also disclosed that Parambrata and Piya had been in a relationship for two years, although the couple had never officially confirmed their status. Piya Chakraborty, currently associated with an NGO, was previously married to composer-singer Anupam Roy, while Parambrata was romantically linked with Dutch national Ike Schouten. Amid speculations about their relationship, Parambrata recently shared insights into his personal life in an interview with Calcutta Times, stating, “Shob e maya… achhe kintu nei” (In the midst of illusion… it exists, yet it doesn’t).

Earlier this year, there were widespread rumours about a secret marriage between Parambrata Chatterjee and Piya Chakraborty, but the actor dismissed the speculations as false. Back in 2021, when Piya and Anupam got divorced, there was buzz suggesting Piya’s decision was influenced by her love for Parambrata. However, the ‘Aranyak’ actor had refuted these claims, consistently maintaining that he and Piya were just good friends.

Bengali star Parambrata ventured into Bollywood in 2012, marking his Hindi film debut with the hit ‘Kahaani,’ where he shared the screen with Vidya Balan. Making waves in Bollywood, he later starred alongside Anushka Sharma in ‘Pari’ and earned applause for his role in the popular Netflix movie ‘Bulbbul’.
