While his heinous act of strangling his girlfriend and then dismembering her body into 35 pieces has sent a chill through our spines, 28-year-old Aftab Amin Poonawala carried out the act with the precision of an ice-cold killer.

Anger over Aftab, who is accused of dismembering Shraddha’s body into 35 pieces, was palpable in Mehrauli’s Chattarpur in New Delhi when TNI visited the area. The neighbours were equivocal in their demand for the death penalty for the heinous act committed by Aftab.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Shraddha’s father Vikas Madaan Walkar, before she had gone missing, she had told her parents and friends that Aftab would often beat her over minor issues.

Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have solved the gruesome murder case of a girl who had been chopped into 35 pieces by her boyfriend. The police arrested the man on Saturday.

The Rajasthan Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), suspecting the explosion on the railway track between Jaipur and Ahmedabad was an act of terrorism.
