Anjali hit-and-run case took a political turn on Wednesday after Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working president Virendra Sachdeva demanded the transfer of the case to a fast-track court.
Sachdeva said they will gherao Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal if he doesn’t fulfil their demand. Sachdeva also said that it is a matter of regret that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders are making insensitive statements on the tragic incident in Sultanpuri.
“It would be better if the Delhi Chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) sheds aside political diatribes on the sensitive incident of Sultanpuri and announces the formation of a fast-track court in the next 24 hours. Otherwise, the BJP will gherao the Chief Minister,” Sachdeva said.
Sachdeva also said that the BJP has been continuously insisting that a fast-track court be set up since just hours after the Sultanpuri accident. He criticised AAP supremo Kejriwal for keeping silent on the establishment of a fast-track court.
Sachdeva also rebuked CM Kejriwal for making a misleading claim about providing legal aid to the victim’s family. He said, “We fail to understand whom the Chief Minister wants to mislead by talking about providing legal help to the victim’s family.”
“In India, the government takes up the case of every victim and the government lawyers present the case in court on behalf of the victim. So it is clear that the announcement of legal aid is a misleading announcement,” he said.
Sachdeva also slammed the Delhi government for the failing safety and security situation in the national capital. He said, “The government claims to have laid CCTV networks across Delhi and eliminated dark spots in Delhi, but after this accident, it is clear that Kejriwal has failed to deliver on this promise.”
He also demanded an explanation from AAP MP Sanjay Singh for the lack of street lights and CCTV in the entire area from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.
