AAP Will End Corruption In Himachal Within 20 Days If Voted To Power: Kejriwal

MANDI: Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that his party would end corruption in Himachal Pradesh within 20 days if voted to power in the Assembly elections due later this year.

Addressing a gathering here, the AAP chief said that anyone found indulging in corruption would straightaway go to jail. He said the Aam Aadmi Party’s motive was not to do politics, but to carry out all-round development. “We are honest to the core,” he said.

Kejriwal, who along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, held a roadshow in Mandi and addressed a gathering at Paddal Ground.

The Delhi Chief Minister said the AAP had ended corruption in Punjab within 20 days and he was ready to give proof of that.

Among the gathering, there were aspirants from various constituencies who are willing to contest elections including professionals from different fields, retired bureaucrats, activists working in various segments and members of business community.

Parvesh Kumar, a businessman from Shimla, said that Himachal Pradesh plays a crucial role in electricity production and cement production but both the things were being sold at higher prices in this hill state. “Therefore, I joined the AAP to work in these areas and benefit the people of Himachal Pradesh by bringing the prices of these two commodities down,” he added.

A retired professor, Sourabh Sood, said that he had the vision for the state which was used by leaders of traditional political parties. “Now, I want to implement things on my own. I want solar panels for energy production in the state and another aim is to boost the tourism,” he added.

Thousands of people waiting for the two leaders in scorching heat were left disappointed after both Kejriwal and Mann didn’t get down from their campaigning vans. They only spoke for five minutes and left the venue.

Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, commenting on the AAP’s roadshow said that Himachal Pradesh was not like Punjab and fake promises of freebies would not fetch votes for the AAP.
