AAP jubilant as Sanjay Singh secures bail: Chief PRO lauds verdict

AAP chief PRO Sarvesh mishra in cinversation with The New Indian

NEW DELHI: Amidst a throng of AAP supporters outside Tihar Jail, Sarvesh Mishra, the party’s Chief PRO, heralded the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh in the Delhi excise policy case.

In an exclusive conversation with The New Indian, Sarvesh Mishra stated, “Firstly, the court has proven that the ED lacks any evidence. This revelation came to light through the court’s inquiry. When asked by the judge about the evidence against Sanjay Singh, the ED failed to provide any. The nation witnessed how, solely on the testimony of a fraudulent witness, the ED unjustly imprisoned a respected MLA for 6 months. This showcases the emerging dictatorship in our country, evident to all.”

Mishra underscored the party’s longstanding contention against what they perceive as politically motivated legal persecution by the ED, leading to prolonged incarcerations. “Today, one of our leaders is being released, but three others remain behind bars. Our struggle continues. It’s not a day of celebration but a testament to the importance of our ongoing fight,” he emphasised.

Addressing the impending legal proceedings involving Arvind Kejriwal, Mishra expressed optimism about the CM’s bail prospects while highlighting his continued dedication to governance. “Kejriwal will show that despite being incarcerated, he will continue his fight for the betterment of Delhi’s residents,” he affirmed.

Sarvesh’s disappointment with the central government’s actions was palpable as he criticised what he perceived as unprecedented repression. “It’s the first time in history that a sitting CM has been jailed under this dictatorial regime. Kejriwal will demonstrate that even behind bars, he remains committed to improving Delhi residents’ lives,”he asserted.

Responding to speculation about Sunita Kejriwal potentially assuming leadership in her husband’s absence, Mishra dismissed such notions as baseless. “Addressing such ridiculous accusations by the Bharatiya Janata Party is futile. Arvind Kejriwal was, is, and will remain the CM of Delhi,” he declared.
