Rishabh Pant met with an accident on Friday morning

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Friday wished for a speedy recovery for wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Rishabh Pant as he fights his way back to recovery,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted.

“I have spoken to his family and the doctors treating him. Rishabh is stable and undergoing scans. We are closely monitoring his progress and will provide him with all the necessary support,” Shah tweeted.

Pant got seriously injured after a road accident while driving home from Delhi to Roorkee in the Haridwar district. According to the police, Pant was alone in the car when it hit the divider on the Delhi-Haridwar highway at around 5.30 am.

“The villagers rushed to the spot when they heard a loud sound. The cops were also alerted. He was rushed to a nearby hospital before he was transferred to a major hospital in Dehradun,” a police official said.

Reports suggested that the Indian wicketkeeper suffered injuries on his forehead, hand and right knee. He is to undergo an operation for his knee injury.

Reports also suggested that the cricketer has admitted that he fell asleep while driving, which led to the accident. “There was no fog at that time. There is no question of fog affecting his visibility. It is likely that Pant fell asleep while driving, which might have led to the accident,” reports suggested.

As the news of the accident spread, the cricket world expressed their concern and wished the talented Indian star a speedy recovery.
