Rajasthan Govt’s Chambal Water Project To Benefit 37L Ppl

The Rajasthan government has given financial approval for the Chambal-Dholpur-Bharatpur Major Drinking Water Project that would supply Chambal river water to 953 villages of Bharatpur district and 132 villages in Dholpur district.

The Rajasthan government has given financial approval for the Chambal-Dholpur-Bharatpur Major Drinking Water Project that would supply Chambal river water to 953 villages in Bharatpur district and 132 villages in Dholpur district.

The mega drinking water project is expected to benefit a total population of 37 lakh 89 thousand by the year 2054.

At the meeting of the Finance Committee of the Rajasthan Water Supply and Sewerage Management Board (RWSSMB), additional chief secretary Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Subodh Agrawal approved the project that will cost ₹3,106 crores.

In the project, a 37 MCM capacity raw water reservoir, raw water transfer main pipeline, clean drinking water transfer main pipeline, raising the main pipeline, clean reservoir and pumping station, high reservoir, cluster distribution pipeline and other construction works will be done.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 26,794 functional domestic water connections will be released in the Dholpur district and 1.66 lakh in the Bharatpur district.

Administrative and financial approval were also given to the restructured urban water supply scheme of ₹19.24 crores at Kanod in the Udaipur district. Work will include the replacement of old pipelines, the laying of new pipelines, the construction of a new high reservoir, and the cleaning of the reservoir.

Financial and administrative approval of ₹1.19 crores was given for the supply of drinking water through tankers from September to March as per requirement in areas having acute drinking water problems in Dausa city. In view of the drinking water problem in Bandikui town in Dausa district ₹1.16 crores were approved.

The department said in all the drinking water problem areas, the water supply through tankers will be done based on coordination with the district administration as per the requirement.
