Bastar Encounter 2021: NIA Searches 3 Locations In AP

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday said that it carried out searches at three locations in Andhra Pradesh in connection with the encounter between CPI (Maoist) cadres and security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar last year.

An NIA spokesperson here said that the agency sleuths carried out searches at three locations in Andhra Pradesh – two in Vijaywada and one in Prakasham districts – in the case of an encounter between security forces and CPI (Maoist). Six CPI (Maoist) cadres and one civilian were killed during the encounter. Handwritten diaries of Akkiraju Haragopal aka RK, CCM of CPI (Maoist), along with arms, ammunition and Maoist literature were also recovered.

The searches conducted today have led to the recovery and seizure of digital devices and incriminating documents including posters, banners, Maoist literature, pamphlets, handwritten diaries etc, the official said.

The NIA took over the probe on March 18 last year.
