KOLKATA: West Bengal’s iconic Dakshineswar Kali Temple lodged an FIR seeking to block a fake Twitter handle opened in the name of Dakshineswar Kali temple.
Kushal Chowdhury, a board of trustees and also the one who complained, told The New Indian, “It’s a fake tweet. We have complained and action must be taken. There is no Twitter account for this sacred institution. It’s very misleading.”
The FIR lodged to Kolkata police by Chowdhury reads, “In the name & style of Dakshineswar Kali Temple (Twitter username@KaliTempleKol URL https://twitter.com/kalitemplekol/status/15449394909800038427-24) a fake Twitter account is created & spreading some malicious write-up which is not our official statement at all.”
“I am lodging this complaint to your good self through this email (treat as F.I.R.) to take immediate steps to identify the person concerned and initiate proceedings according to the law (cybercrime). At the same time I am requesting you to block/stop the said fake Twitter account immediately so that any type of misleading write-up can be prevented,” it reads.
Earlier a tweet was floated from the same alleged fake account on the Kali poster controversy.
“We are all worshipers of Maa Kali. Holding a cigarette in his hand is hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community. In many places, maa is given alcohol and goats are sacrificed. But holding a cig is highly reprehensible. We are strongly opposed to it,” the alleged tweet reads.
