Emaar Properties CEO Detained At IGI Airport

NEW DELHI: Amit Jain, Group CEO of Emaar Properties, has been detained at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in connection with a case registered by Punjab Police in 2019.

According to Airport sources, Jain arrived at the IGI airport on Friday by flight number EK-516 from Dubai and was detained at immigration. He was wanted on the basis of a Look Out Circular, issued by the Punjab police.

The case was registered in Punjab’s Rupnagar district in 2019 under sections 420, 406 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code. The LOC was issued against Jain and Hadi Badri, who had recently resigned as director of Emaar India.

According to airport sources, Punjab police had written to the immigration authority on June 17, in relation to the FIR registered there.

He was detained when he arrived today. The source said that after Jain’s detention, the Punjab police were informed.
