Radico Khaitan Launches Rampur 1943 Virasat, Celebrating 82 Years of Distilling Heritage

Summary

Radico Khaitan has launched Rampur 1943 Virasat, a premium Indian single malt that celebrates the legacy of the historic Rampur Distillery through refined craftsmanship and heritage-driven flavour.

New Delhi: Radico Khaitan Limited has announced the launch of its premium expression, Rampur 1943 Virasat Indian Single Malt, marking a significant milestone that honours the legacy of the historic Rampur Distillery established in 1943. The new single malt reflects a blend of tradition and innovation, positioning itself as a tribute to India’s rich whisky-making heritage.

Crafted at the foothills of the Himalayas, Rampur 1943 Virasat is produced using carefully selected six-row Indian barley, known for its robust flavour profile and distinctive malty richness. The whisky is distilled in newly designed pot stills that maintain Rampur’s signature DNA while introducing a more refined and contemporary character.

The maturation process plays a pivotal role in defining its complexity. The spirit is initially aged in American Bourbon barrels and later finished in Ruby Port Pipes. The extreme climatic conditions of North India, ranging from scorching summers of 45°C to chilling winters of 2°C, accelerate the ageing process, imparting exceptional depth and intensity to the whisky.

In terms of tasting profile, Rampur 1943 Virasat opens with notes of sweet vanilla, caramel and toasted oak, followed by malty richness and tropical fruit tones. The finish delivers red berries, stewed fruits and silky spices with an elegant lingering sweetness derived from the Ruby Port cask influence, resulting in a full-bodied and sophisticated experience for whisky enthusiasts.

Commenting on the launch, Abhishek Khaitan, Managing Director of Radico Khaitan, said the new offering represents the timeless heritage of the distillery and the passion behind Indian whisky craftsmanship. He added that the expression pays homage to the company’s journey since 1943, combining authenticity, innovation and excellence in every bottle.

Amar Sinha, Chief Operating Officer of Radico Khaitan, noted that the objective behind the launch was to make the artistry of Indian single malts more accessible while maintaining the highest standards of quality and innovation. He highlighted that every element, from barley to barrel, reflects the brand’s commitment to superior craftsmanship.

Priced between ₹3,500 and ₹4,500 per bottle, Rampur 1943 Virasat will initially be available in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi, with plans for a phased nationwide rollout. The launch reinforces Rampur’s position as a premium Indian single malt brand while ushering in a new era of refined whisky artistry.
