NEW DELHI: In a groundbreaking achievement, the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has set new benchmarks in governance and industrial growth by transforming the FastTrack Punjab Portal into one of India’s most efficient digital platforms for business facilitation.
The portal, revamped on May 29, 2025, and relaunched on June 10, 2025, has successfully cleared 96% of pending applications, positioning Punjab as one of the fastest and easiest states to start and expand businesses.
A Digital Revolution in Industrial Governance
Once plagued by red tape and delays, Punjab’s industrial approval system has undergone a digital revolution. In February 2025, there were 8,075 applications pending beyond the stipulated timeline. Today, that number has plummeted to just 283, marking a 96% reduction. At the district level, pending cases have dropped by 98%, from 833 to 17, while all 166 state-level cases have been cleared — a 100% completion rate.
The FastTrack Punjab Portal (www.fasttrack.punjab.gov.in) integrates over 20 departments, including land, environment, fire safety, and forest clearances, into a single, unified digital system. With just one form and one stamp paper, investors can secure multiple approvals efficiently.
Ease of Doing Business: Record Improvements
Under the Punjab Right to Business Act, 2025, all business approvals must be granted within 45 days — or even faster. Projects in industrial parks now receive initial approvals within 5 days, while others get clearance in 15–18 days based on self-declaration.
The Revenue Department has launched India’s first online CRO service, offering digital land validity certificates. Out of 134 applications, 78 (50%) have already been approved. The platform also ensures automatic approval if a department fails to respond on time, eliminating bureaucratic delays altogether.
Smart Tech and Transparent Operations
The FastTrack system’s intelligent automation detects errors instantly and removes outdated applications. If an application is rejected, users can appeal before an Appellate Board. Real-time SMS and email alerts keep applicants updated throughout the process.
Between June and September 2025, 87% of 17,006 service applications and 81% of 4,884 license applications were processed within deadlines. Out of 112 total investment applications, 85 (76%) were approved — including 7 auto-approvals.
Massive Investments and Job Creation
The results are impressive. Between April and September 2025, Punjab received 1,295 project applications worth ₹29,480 crores, generating 67,672 jobs. Since March 2022, the Mann government has secured ₹1.29 lakh crores in investments across 7,414 projects, creating 4.6 lakh employment opportunities.
The portal alone has attracted ₹21,700 crores in new projects — a 167% rise from 2024 and 110% from 2023. Industrial plot sales have surged, with 260 plots sold and ₹300 crores invested in upgrading 52 industrial areas. Additionally, ₹150 crores in subsidies have been distributed since April 2025, clearing arrears left by previous governments. A mega industrial hub worth ₹7,300 crores is also under development.
National Recognition and Investor Confidence
Thanks to these reforms, Punjab has jumped five positions in the national Ease of Doing Business rankings. Investors describe the system as “transparent, quick, and corruption-free.”
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal praised the initiative, calling it “India’s biggest business reform” and lauding the Mann government for “making Punjab corruption-free and investor-friendly.”
A New Chapter of Growth and Employment
The success of the FastTrack Punjab Portal not only reduces administrative workload but also energizes Punjab’s youth through new job opportunities. The initiative is being hailed as the cornerstone of Punjab’s industrial revolution, blending digital governance, economic reform, and social progress.
As Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann aptly puts it, “People’s money will now be used for people’s work — not corruption.”
With its rapid approvals, transparent operations, and strong investor confidence, Punjab is emerging as India’s fastest-growing business hub, proving that with the Mann government — everything is possible.
