NEW DELHI: Skyesports, one of India’s leading esports and community-building organizations, has unveiled Gaming Mahotsav — a pioneering pan-India hyperlocal pop culture festival that promises to blend the worlds of gaming, anime, comics, music, and regional identity in a never-before-seen celebration.
The multi-city festival kicks off on August 30–31 at the Chennai Trade Centre, where it will debut as Gaming Thiruvizha, the Tamil-language identity of the event. Each edition across six cities will reflect the linguistic and cultural nuances of its host region — from Gaming Habba in Bengaluru to Gaming Utsav in Pune — transforming the festival into a traveling celebration of India’s diverse fandoms.
A New Era of Pop Culture Festivals
Unlike traditional gaming tournaments, Gaming Mahotsav is a multi-format immersive experience. It is designed as a space where:
- Gaming meets cosplay
- Anime collides with Indian comics
- Merch alleys showcase local art
- Digital creators perform live
- Open LAN tournaments electrify the crowd
- Regional identity takes center stage
“This is our love letter to India’s pop culture fans,” said Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports. “Gaming Mahotsav is not just another esports event — it’s a cultural carnival. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, an anime lover, a chess prodigy, or just someone who enjoys live music and creators, this festival is for you.”
Hyperlocal, Yet National
Each stop in the Gaming Mahotsav journey will feature region-specific programming, local language content, and cultural performances, ensuring that no two editions are the same. The six confirmed editions are:
- Gaming Thiruvizha – Chennai (Aug 30-31, 2025)
- Gaming Habba – Bengaluru (Sept 27-28, 2025)
- Gaming Panduga – Hyderabad (TBA, 2025)
- Gaming Mahotsav – Mumbai (TBA, 2025)
- Gaming Ulsavam – Kochi (Jan 10-11, 2026)
- Gaming Utsav – Pune (Feb 14-15, 2026)
The Chennai edition’s tickets will be available exclusively on the KYN app, a hyperlocal community platform that connects users through shared experiences and curated real-life events.
“Gaming Mahotsav is more than a festival. It is a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection — values that deeply resonate with us,” said Gayathri Thyagarajan, CEO of Kynhood Technologies and Founder of KYN. “We are thrilled to be the exclusive ticketing partner for the Chennai edition and look forward to nurturing hyperlocal communities through this partnership.”
A Nationwide Cosplay and Chess Showcase
Adding to the spectacle, each edition of Gaming Mahotsav will host a cosplay tournament, judged by top creators, anime experts, and industry professionals. This platform aims to highlight India’s growing cosplay scene, offering hundreds of enthusiasts an opportunity to showcase their craft on a national stage.

The festival will also include an Under-16 Chess Championship, drawing from India’s fast-growing chess culture. Qualifying rounds will be held in all cities, with finalists meeting in Pune for the national championship.
Pop Culture Meets Numbers
India’s pop culture landscape is rapidly evolving. According to the FICCI-EY 2024 report, the country now has over 450 million gamers, and anime viewership and comic readership are seeing exponential growth, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Social media trends indicate a rising overlap between anime, games, comics, and music-based content. Gaming Mahotsav is Skyesports’ response to this shifting cultural zeitgeist — a high-energy, multi-dimensional platform that captures the aspirations and entertainment preferences of India’s Gen Z and millennial audiences.
With Gaming Mahotsav, Skyesports isn’t just launching a festival — it’s building a new IP ecosystem where gaming is a gateway to deeper cultural and community engagement.
