New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested a 34-year-old fraudster for allegedly cheating multiple job seekers by offering fake employment in government organizations. The accused, identified as Sita Ram, was apprehended from Noida after a complaint was filed by a Delhi-based restaurant manager who lost ₹1.34 lakh in the scam.

According to police, the accused posed as an NCC official and frequented the victim’s eatery, where he promised a government job for the complainant’s son in Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS). He provided a forged appointment letter created using photo-editing software and collected payment through bank transfers.

The fraud came to light when the victim’s son visited the NYKS office and discovered the documents were fake.

A special police team led by Inspector Mahabir Singh tracked down the accused after technical surveillance revealed his location in Noida. During interrogation, Sita Ram admitted to cheating multiple victims, primarily targeting NCC cadets and youth through his self-styled NGO “Veerta The Youth Power of India.”

Police recovered three mobile phones, a laptop, fake NCC identity cards, and a white Maruti Ciaz car with unauthorized Army/NCC stickers from the accused. Investigation revealed his involvement in similar cheating cases across Delhi, including a pending case in Burari police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla stated, “The accused exploited youth aspirations by creating fake organizations and documents. We’re verifying if others were involved in this racket.”

Records show the accused had previously faced charges in a 2021 harassment case. A school dropout from MP who later settled in Delhi, he allegedly used his brief NCC association to gain victims’ trust. Police have urged job seekers to verify employment offers directly with concerned departments.
