New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has condemned the collapse of a government school roof in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, calling it a case of “murder by negligence” and blaming the BJP-led state government for failing to maintain basic infrastructure.
The incident, which killed at least five children and injured over 30, has sparked nationwide outrage.
Former Delhi Education Minister and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia accused the BJP of criminal neglect, stating, *”This is not an accident—it is murder caused by a government that treats quality education as a crime.”* He contrasted the situation with Delhi’s government schools, where he claimed world-class infrastructure was built before his arrest in what AAP alleges were politically motivated cases by central agencies.
Delhi LoP Atishi echoed the criticism, calling the tragedy *”institutional cruelty”* and highlighting the poor condition of schools in BJP-ruled states. Meanwhile, AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged hypocrisy, claiming that had such an incident occurred in Delhi, BJP leaders and media would have launched an aggressive campaign against the AAP government.
The BJP has yet to respond to AAP’s allegations. The Rajasthan government has ordered an investigation into the structural safety of the school building.
