NEW DELHI: In a proud moment for Bihar’s higher education sector, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has clinched two prestigious Director General Medals at the 171st Annual Day of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on July 12.
The awards, among the highest honors conferred by CPWD, recognized IIM Bodh Gaya’s Permanent Campus (Phase I) for its outstanding infrastructure and project execution. The institute won the Certificate of Merit for Overall Best Completed Project and the Best MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Services in a New Completed Project. These accolades underscore IIM Bodh Gaya’s commitment to delivering world-class educational infrastructure through meticulous planning, sustainable design, and technical excellence.

The honors were formally awarded to the Superintending Engineer cum Project Director, Bodh Gaya, reflecting the institute’s successful collaboration with CPWD in setting new benchmarks for public infrastructure projects.
Professor Vinita S. Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, remarked,
“These awards are not just about infrastructure—they represent our vision and our commitment to creating academic spaces that inspire excellence. That this recognition comes to Bihar makes it even more special, as we aim to redefine perceptions through quality execution.”
CPWD, India’s premier government construction agency, oversees high-profile projects nationwide. That IIM Bodh Gaya emerged as a dual award winner among all CPWD projects this year places both the institute and Bihar’s educational infrastructure firmly on the national stage.
The Permanent Campus, envisioned after the Bihar Government allotted 118.82 acres in 2018, was constructed with a sanctioned budget of ₹411.72 crores, approved by the Union Cabinet. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024, the nearly 73-acre Phase I campus blends sustainable, energy-efficient design with elements of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, reflecting openness, inclusivity, and academic aspiration.
