NEW DELHI: In an exclusive interview with the Executive Editor of The New Indian, Rohan Dua, Panchayat Actor, Chandan Roy aka Vikas, shares his take on Alcohol and talks about his personal experiences.
Panchayat, one of the famous web series in India, recently released its fourth season. The New Indian team had a conversation with Chandan Roy, who gained a lot of popularity and love for his character, Vikas, through the show.
Chandan Roy on Alcohol
When asked about his take on Alcohol, the Panchayat actor commented that it is something he despises. He talked about how wrong it is and he truly considers it as a nonsense act.

While talking he reminisced about how he never drank in Bihar, but while he was in Delhi, studying in IIMC- Indian Institute of Mass Communication, he received a scholarship amount and ended up giving his friends a party where they drank.
“If I make a mistake—even at night— I feel guilty the next morning.”
He further talked about how he usually falls in guilt after consuming alcohol. While talking about this, Chandan Roy also said that he is a person who prefers waking early in morning, doing yoga and always trying to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
“But drowning in it—that’s a problem. Many actors have this misconception— that unless you drink or smoke, you can’t act. I don’t believe that.”
Roy also shared his instance from the Hindi Cinema, where he shared that he drinks maybe once or twice in a year, sometimes when he is with directors and producers talking about work. Even after this, he tries to stick to his principles.
Chandan Roy, who hails from Patna, studied in the prestigious Indian Institute of Mass Communication, has gained recognition and acclamation for his relatable charm in Panchayat.
