NEW DELHI: In a devastating turn of events that has stunned the football world, Portuguese international and Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota, 28, and his younger brother André Silva, 26, died in a car crash in northwestern Spain in the early hours of July 3. Spanish authorities confirmed the brothers died instantly when their Lamborghini Huracán veered off the A-52 highway near Cernadilla and burst into flames.
THE ACCIDENT
According to the Civil Guard and local emergency services, the crash occurred shortly after midnight. The high-performance vehicle was traveling eastbound near the town of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora when one of its rear tyres reportedly burst while overtaking another vehicle. The car lost control, collided with roadside barriers, and flipped before catching fire. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but both men had already succumbed to their injuries.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and forensic authorities transported the bodies to Zamora’s provincial morgue for identification and autopsy.
